Codecademy - The Best Place to Learn Programming Online

Anybody Can Code

There are tutorials and resources available for learning programming online. One of the most popular ones is W3Schools. But my favorite one is Codecademy. It has many courses including PHP, HTML & CSS, Python, Ruby, JavaScript and jQuery. The courses are very well written and are divided into several section. To move on to a next section you need apply what you learnt in the current section to solve a set of problems. What I really like about Codecademy is the interface. It has a code editor just beside the course text so you can try out what you are learning. And the given problems are helpful when learning a new programming language.

The beauty of Codecademy is that, it gives users a way to interact with it, which takes the learning process to a whole new level. With each of the courses, you also have forums to learn more from the community. You can also check out the forum if you need help while coding the given set of problems.

If you are thinking about learning to code, Codecademy is the first place you should go. I have taken some of the course, and there more than enough to set a platform for you to read an advance book in the language you are willing to learn. Codecademy is the Khan Academy for programming! If you are not sure which course to take first, check out the HTML & CSS course or the Python course.

P. S. For those who don't know what Khan Academy is, it is the best place online to learn everything from math to physics or from biology to history. Whether you are trying to remember that what an atom means or didn't have the resources to go to school, Khan Academy is the best place to learn.

Why I Started Blogging

It's been almost 5 years since I started blogging. This is the 30th post being published. That means over the course of 5 years, I've written 6 posts per year. Although 30 is much less than I would have liked, this is one of those pet projects I have continued even after the honeymoon phase. Dear edX, I was in my 2nd year of college when you came to life. And I was ecstatic! No, not to be in college (LOL) but to have finally found my calling. Computer programming. I was browsing through all the resources I could find. Codecademy courses mainly. And right at that moment, you arrived. Your parents hail from the Harvard University and from the MIT. So of course you received my attention. Also, you had an unique selling point: free certificates. This was huge! No one else was doing it. It seemed you were actually trying to help students learn new skills and show off to the world. I was stoked to enroll into the course developed world's top professors. The free certificates were a big motivator to complete the courses. The first course I enrolled into was developed by The Linux Foundation. I have taken several courses since then.
